George Platt House Surrounded by the Blooms of its 169th Spring on Riverside Avenue
The George Platt House, built in 1851, sits above Riverside Avenue and the Saugatuck River itself - and has done so for nearly 200 years. The home was part of an application to the National Register of Historic Places due to its Italianate-style and its position within the historic district area of Riverside Avenue, Cross Street, Lincoln Street, and Burr Road. The district contains many victorian, colonial, and other historic homes dating back to the early 1800s when many immigrants and working class began to settle in the area due to its proximity to Saugatuck and Downtown’s shipping areas.
