Just after 1:30 PM today, first responders were dispatched to the area of 200-300 Riverside Avenue for the report of the motor vehicle accident involving multiple trucks and a telephone pole. Upon their arrival, the scene described a collision where one truck traveling on Riverside Avenue apparently struck two parked cars in front of Jr’s Deli, coming to a sudden stop after jumping over the sidewalk and striking a utility pole.

The violent crash brought Jr’s Deli staff and customers running outside to see what had happened. One of the deli visitors, who owned one of the vehicles struck, felt relief that the vehicles were unoccupied when struck.

The truck came to a stop after jumping the sidewalk, and striking a utility pole.

Due to the force of the crash, one vehicle struck had a visible gas leak and a broken rear axle. There is no word on any injuries to the driver, or what caused the accident. The roadway was still closed as of 2:45 PM.

Update: The roadway was re-opened at 2:55 PM. The Westport Fire Department released that one person was transported to the hospital by Westport Emergency Medical Service.
