MoCA Announces Spring Exhibition: SMASH by Artist Marilyn Minter
MoCA Westport is pleased to present its Spring Exhibition, Smash, on view to the public from April 2 – June 13, 2021. The exhibition will be devoted exclusively to the videos of contemporary artist Marilyn Minter.
An opening reception for MoCA Westport Members will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
Presented in both grandiose and intimate scales and settings throughout MoCA Westport’s galleries, Minter’s videos will be exhibited together for the first time in a public institution. Seeped in lush imagery oscillating between figuration and abstraction, Minter’s works encapsulate feminism, pleasure, voyeurism and notions of beauty, desire and chance.
Marilyn Minter’s custom-designed AMC Pacer automobile featuring an interior, surround viewing of her work Green Pink Caviar, will also be exhibited for the first time.
Minter is a contemporary American painter, photographer and video artist recognized for examining the relationships between the body and cultural beliefs about sexuality, desire, and pleasure. Her paintings and richly colored photographs and videos have been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions and have been included in group exhibitions all over the world. She currently works and lives in New York, NY.
