Saving Grace: 19 Soundview Gets Paint, Not Wrecking Ball, after 121 Years

In a rare turn of events for Westport real estate - the demolition sign has been removed from 19 Soundview Drive, and a fresh coat of paint was put in its place. Workers earlier this week said the house would be saved from the wrecking ball.

The original January 4th ZBA application called for a total demolition of the home, its walkway, and its driveway (off of Danbury avenue). In its place, according to the coastal site plan, would be a totally new FEMA-compliant home with a pool.

The home was built in 1900 and will begin its 121st summer this year with updates and fresh white paint. The property was last appraised at 2.81 million dollars ($210,00 and $2,606,000 for the house and property, respectively) according to the Assessor’s Office Vision Appraisals records, and last sold in September for 2.7 million dollars.
