Staples Baseball Hammered By Danbury 12-2

Staples catcher narrowly misses the tag at home.

The varsity game started out well enough, with two hits for the Wreckers in the first inning but it went downhill fast and for good, with Danbury ending the game in the fit inning under the mercy rule which states the a game will end after one team leads by 10 runs after five innings of play. Danbury loaded the bases in the fifth and scored and the game was "mercifully" ended. Three Staples pitchers attempted to stop the Hatters, but to no avail. The JV team faired no better, also losing to Danbury. Staples varsity is now 3-2 overall, 1-2 in league play. There is a home game on Saturday against Hall and on Monday they face Westhill also at home.
