The Westport Local Press Launches
…into space? Maybe not. But this is my first post on this new blog hitting Westport’s vibrant online scene.
By way of an introduction: my name is Jaime, and I’m the founder and “Executive Editor” of this new website. I live and work in Westport, and can easily be found all over our town; both in-person or online.
My Westport journey began when I moved here in eighth grade with my mother and triplet brothers from Redding, started school at Bedford Middle School, and continued to graduate in 2016 from Staples. My photographic journey began while in high school as I submitted photos to WestportNow, which continued until the site’s end this week.
As WestportNow begins to serve our community as a digital history of Westport from 2003, I want The Westport Local Press to assist in bridging the gap that our community may now face. This site, similar to WestportNow’s foundation, will run as a continuously fed blog. News, photos, and other types of updates will be published as they’re made available. The “headlines” will be on our Main News page and will include all published updates on the site. Town updates, COVID-19 news, accidents or events, obituaries or births, or even the beloved sunset photo will all be included.
A new feature added for the WLP community is the Good News Only news feed, which takes all published posts that are good-natured and re-publishes them to their own feed. This will allow the community to take a moment and enjoy only the good things happening in Town - from beautiful photography, neighbors helping neighbors, and other happenings that will make us smile.
This site is just as much yours as it is mine, so please let me know what suggestions or comments you might have by emailing me: editor@westportlocalpress.com. As I build a team of Westport Local Press Members and our content, your ideas will be crucial to building a site for every Westporter.
