Remnant from the Past: State Street East January 18, 2021 James Bairaktaris A sign at the intersection of “State Street East” and Beverly Place remains as a piece of Westport history. State Street East, now known as Post Road East, can still be recognized on some online mapping systems, and on this sign that remains near the intersection of Post Road East and the Sherwood Island Connector. “Beverly Place” has two separate properties on it, one having a small building visible from Post Road East. “Beverly Place” is more colloquial, as the former street used to split 830, 840, and 850 Post Road East. The home on the property was built in 1930, and now serves as a commercial building.
