The downtown area was busy this afternoon as sidewalks were cleared and shoppers took advantage of the clear weather. This marks the last weekend to grab gifts before Christmas from the retailers relying on the business this year after a dismal spring season.
Sushi on a Snow Day
The opening of Church Lane for snow plows also opened the road for customers of Pink Sumo japanese restaurant. Staff said they were happy to have the road open again, which helps with take-out orders. The sushi bar couldn’t offer outdoor seating due to the temperature-sensitive foods served, so they rely heavily on take-out business like tonight’s.
Westport Wash & Wax transitions to Splash Car Wash after November Sale
The sale of Westport Wash & Wax was announced last month, according to employees, with the Splash Car Wash franchised company purchasing it as their 20th car wash location. Westport Wash & Wax was started in 1999 by the Tiefenthaler family, and although no longer Westport Wash & Wax, the same employees remain to serve customers and their cars.

Bakers were busy filling both take-out and dine-in orders today at Kneads Bakery in Saugatuck Center.
