Superintendent: Two New Cases in Two Schools

From Westport Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Scarice:

“Dear Westport Families and Staff,

In our efforts to remain transparent with reports of positive Covid-19 cases associated with our schools, we will continue to provide these updates as information is confirmed. As of the time I am writing to you this evening we have 2 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 from the following schools:

  • Coleytown Elementary School - 1

  • Bedford Middle School - 1

Those impacted have been notified by school and District officials. As a reminder, families are asked to report positive of COVID-19 cases of students using our reporting voicemail or email regardless of whether the students are in remote or hybrid models of instruction. Both cases involved individuals already quarantining based on exposures outside of school. As a reminder, families are asked to report positive of COVID-19 cases of students using our reporting voicemail or email regardless of whether the students are in remote or hybrid models of instruction. FDA Approves COVID-19 Vaccine, Millions of Doses will be Shipped to U.S.

According to a press release late Friday night, the FDA has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for distribution and use on patients 16 years old and older, and wants to do so as soon as possible. The New York Times reports that the company has an agreement with the United States Government to “supply 100 million doses of the vaccine by next March. Under that agreement, the shots will be free to the public.” (New York Times)
