Midnight Car Accident Closes Easton Road, Sends One Car into Forest and Police Looking for Driver

WestportLocal.com photoJust before 12:30 this morning, first responders were dispatched to the area of Easton Road and Brooklawn Drive for the report of the motor vehicle accident with automatic rollover detection - about 500 feet south of Westport Fire Department’s Coleytown House.
A Westport EMS crew was dispatched for the report of a possible injured driver in the midnight car accident. WestportLocal.com photo First responders and neighbors quickly found the vehicle, a BMW SUV, stuck down a steep embankment alongside the Route 136 sidewalk - but could not locate the driver. After a short search in the nearby neighborhood, Westport Police officers were able to locate the driver and have them evaluated by Westport EMS. The driver was not transported by the EMS team, and remained on scene.
Reports from the scene describe the vehicle as possibly travelling north on Easton Road before it lost control - destroying a concrete bridge structure over Silver Brook before the vehicle came to a rest in the nearby forest.
A neighbor described the loud sound piercing the quiet night, causing them to head to the street to see what had happened. No word on what caused the accident has been released.
Car Accident Reported on Long Lots Road
A car accident was reported just after 11:00 AM this morning on Long Lots Road near Ruta Court. First responders were on scene soon thereafter, with traffic slowed in the immediate area just off of the intersection of Long Lots Road and Post Road East. One vehicle was reported involved. No information has been released.
Pedestrian Struck in Commuter Lot off of Exit 41
A pedestrian was reported as struck by a vehicle in the commuter parking lot at Allen Raymond Lane, near the on-ramp to Route 15 northbound and the entrance to the Westport-Weston YMCA. First responders were dispatched to the scene just after 9:30 this morning. No information on what caused the accident or extent of any injuries has been reported.
Pickup Truck Crashes into Disabled Tractor Trailer, Rolling Over and Shutting Down All Lanes of I-95 Tonight
Westport Fire Department Press ReleaseToday at approximately 1700 hours the Westport Fire department along with Fairfield Fire, AMR, CT State Police, and Westport EMS was requested to respond to a rollover on I-95 southbound, south of exit 19.
Units arrived on scene to find an accident involving three vehicles. Based on preliminary reports from those involved and witnesses, it is believed that a tractor trailer was disabled in the right shoulder when a pickup truck struck the rear of the stopped trailer. It was reported that the pickup truck rolled over an unknown number of times.
The driver was assisted from the pickup truck by bystanders. The driver of the tractor trailer was unhurt and was reported to be out of the truck off the side of the highway at the time of the crash.
A third vehicle was reportedly struck by debris from the pickup and the driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a trauma facility and no further information is available on his condition at this time. The accident is under investigation by the CT State Police. The crash resulted in all three lanes of the highway needing to be closed for approximately one hour.
