VFW Collecting “All Things Warm” for Veterans
From VFW Post 399, located at 465 Riverside Avenue:
“‘All Things Warm’ is the name of Westport VFW Post 399’s winter drive. We are collecting new and gently used warm clothing and blankets for veterans and their families.
Coats, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, sweaters, thermals, winter socks, pajamas, boots — if it’s warm, they want it.
Drop-offs are accepted at the VFW Post (465 Riverside Avenue, at the Saugatuck Avenue split) through December 19. 2020”
Santa Spreads Joy to Neighbors
The Philip’s Family, who have lived in Westport for three months now, decided to spread some joy to their new neighborhood with a visit from Santa Claus himself. Claus, who closely resembles Josh Philips, started off the holiday season in Westport by visiting some of the Philips’ neighbors with hot cocoa and the age-old question “what would you like for Christmas?” Josh’s wife Rose described the doorstep-scenes of happiness and joy from the awe-struck kids, and says “We will continue this tradition until Christmas Eve, be good this year... and Santa might just knock on your door.” Contributed Photo for The Westport Local Press.
Snowing at National Hall
Rain, sleet, and some snow fell over Westport this afternoon. The wintery weather is a precursor to what meteorologists describe as a possible snowy nor’easter Wednesday going into Thursday.
