Local Elf Not Moving: Report by Westport 5th Grader
This report was written by a local 11 year old and the current confusion over his family’s Elf not moving on two separate occasions.
An Elf was caught not moving this season, and one local 11 year old is sad about it.
Most years the red-hat-wearing magical spy moves around every day, but only during the nighttime. The helper’s purpose is to inform Santa on if the kids are being naughty or nice.
However for one local 5th grader, their Elf hasn’t been moving while the 5th grader sleeps-in. According to the 5th grader, his connection-to-Santa hasn’t moved on both December 15th and December 18th. This is unusual, and has not happened during any other holiday season.
The child’s mother believes that the 5th grader doesn’t have enough Christmas Spirit for the Elf to want to move, but the 5th grader protests that he does, in fact, have Christmas Spirit this year. The spirited young local now wears a Santa hat to show his Christmas spirit to both the Elf and everyone else.
No word on whether or not the child has been naughty or nice this year. The Elf could not be reached for comment.

News 12 featured Westport kids yesterday on what was a true snow day for them, while a remote learning day for many others. Westport was one of few districts in Fairfield County, and the tri-state area, who made the call to allow snow days without any remote learning, allowing students the day off to enjoy outside in the snow. According to the report, local parents - and kids - were pleased with the decision as they slid down the hill at Kings Highway Elementary School yesterday.
Inklings News features The Westport Local Press
Editor’s Note
Inklings News, the student run newspaper for Staples High School, featured The Westport Local Press in their recent publication. The article was written by Staples Junior Katie Simons and discussed the foundation and goals of the WLP.
I was happy to speak with them, and look forward to everything that Inklings publishes, posts, and tweets. As a Staples graduate, I know that Inklings has always been an integral link between our high school and our community.
