Saturday Shopping Downtown
The downtown area was busy this afternoon as sidewalks were cleared and shoppers took advantage of the clear weather. This marks the last weekend to grab gifts before Christmas from the retailers relying on the business this year after a dismal spring season.
Cool & Clear Evening Along the Water
An evening shoreline walk at Compo tonight proved to be well worth the cold. With clear skies and a bright sunset, the evening was seasonably beautiful for those who lingered after sunset.
Local Elf Not Moving: Report by Westport 5th Grader
This report was written by a local 11 year old and the current confusion over his family’s Elf not moving on two separate occasions.
An Elf was caught not moving this season, and one local 11 year old is sad about it.
Most years the red-hat-wearing magical spy moves around every day, but only during the nighttime. The helper’s purpose is to inform Santa on if the kids are being naughty or nice.
However for one local 5th grader, their Elf hasn’t been moving while the 5th grader sleeps-in. According to the 5th grader, his connection-to-Santa hasn’t moved on both December 15th and December 18th. This is unusual, and has not happened during any other holiday season.
The child’s mother believes that the 5th grader doesn’t have enough Christmas Spirit for the Elf to want to move, but the 5th grader protests that he does, in fact, have Christmas Spirit this year. The spirited young local now wears a Santa hat to show his Christmas spirit to both the Elf and everyone else.
No word on whether or not the child has been naughty or nice this year. The Elf could not be reached for comment.
