Westport Library: Open Once Again
For the first time since November, Westport Library visitors are free to enter the stacks once again to browse books, magazine, and other items as COVID-19 numbers begin to decline in the area.
The Library has remained open throughout most of the pandemic in some form or another, bringing literature to residents both young and old through contactless pick-up, digital online systems, and through appointments in the library building. This week, book worms rejoiced as they were able to wander the newly configured stacks in the Trefz Forum for their next literary adventure. Staff were excited to welcome visitors through the doors and are available to assist members and guests if help is needed. The children’s library, makerspace, media studios, and store will still require appointments through their website.
The Westport Public Library began its history on Post Road East, on the corner of the now Parker Harding Plaza. After an addition, now Starbucks, the library was moved to its current address on Jesup Green. After a 21 million dollar renovation in 2019, It reopened for just under one year, closing again due to COVID-19.
