The middle school will continue to distantly learn on a half-day schedule on on Wednesdays until March. Staples High School transition plans remain delayed, but are forthcoming, according to Scarice. He cites that vigilance of mask wearing on buses will be important, and said that a 5%-10% increase in distance learners will be possible.

Thursday, January 28th: Special Transition Schedule (shared next week)
Friday, January 29th: Special Transition Schedule (shared next week)

Distance learning option remains for all families. Lunch will be eaten in homerooms. Wednesdays will be in person half-days to allow staff development.
Middle School:
Monday, February 1st: First Full Day of On-Site Schooling
Wednesday, February 3rd, 10th, & 24th: Distant Learning, Half-Day Schedule
Schedules will not change. Distance learning and live-streaming will remain an option.
Superintendent Thomas Scarice:
As I shared on December 22, given the performance of public schools across the state, and here in Westport, I am confident that our resilience will continue to maintain high levels of safety for staff and students. It is clear that with continued vigilance in mask wearing, schools can remain resilient while serving more on-site learners safely. Of course, for this school year all parents will be afforded the right to distance learning for their child.
Communication throughout the system will be essential to making appropriate changes as necessary. We will continue to monitor our performance and the effectiveness of our safety measures. In response, we reserve the right to make programmatic adjustments along the way.
You can expect building principals to follow up with families in the coming days as we prepare for this change in learning models.
Westport PD Announce Arrest Warrant Scam
From the Westport Police Department’s 01/14/21 Press Release
Today several residents have reported receiving a phone call from someone purporting themselves to be one of our officers or an FBI agent, advising the residents they are the subject of an arrest warrant and wanted by our agency. The caller then requested payment from the residents in the form of gift cards to avoid arrest.
Please know this is a scam and the Westport Police Department does not notify individuals by phone of existing arrest warrants. We also never collect bond/bail payments over the phone or in the form of prepaid gift cards. Some of these calls can be very convincing. Should you ever doubt the legitimacy of such a call, please contact our main non-emergency number at (203) 341-6000.
