No Beach? No Problem. Longshore Pool Open until 8PM Daily
Longshore Pool was calm before opening this morning as lifeguards prepared the deck for guests. With local beaches closed to swimming, Westport residents can still enjoy a cooling swim while enjoying views of the Long Island Sound. The Longshore Pool is open to residents with Parks and Recreation handpasses from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM through August 29th, after which date the hours transition to 4 - 7 PM weekdays, 11AM - 7PM weekends. DPW Announces Roadway Crack Sealing Began Today
From the Department of Public Works. Photo by WestportLocal.comThe Department of Public Works has scheduled the annual Roadway Crack Seal Program to begin on Tuesday, August 24. The work effort will be daily for three weeks and will perform maintenance on approximately 11 miles of various roadways throughout Town. Traffic will not be detoured, rather, alternating one-way traffic flow will be used to route traffic around this continually moving work zone. The roadways will be open for two-way traffic as the work crew progresses.
Please follow the directions of the traffic control personnel and travel at a reduced speed through the work zone. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Westport COVID-19 Cases up 2, No Deaths; State Positivity Rate 3.83%, Hospitalizations Up 22
The Westport-Weston Health District reports that Westport’s COVID-19 cases are up 2, with no deaths reported. The State’s daily test positivity rate was up to 3.83%, and State hospitalizations were up 22.
Westport total positive or probable cases: 1,923 cases.
Westport total COVID-19 Deaths: 31 deaths.
State Daily Test Positivity: 3.83% [up from 3.50%]
State Hospitalizations: 391 patients [+22]
