Westport Woman’s Club Accepting Clothing, Accessory Donations for Fundraising Tag Sale
The Westport Woman’s Club is currently accepting donations of clothing for its November 2021 Clothing Tag Sale. Tax deductible donations of new or gently-worn women’s, men’s and children’s clothing as well as accessories (shoes, handbags, scarves, hats, jewelry, etc.) are now welcomed through October 27. Please drop off donated items any weekday (9am -12pm or 1pm -4pm) at the Westport Woman’s Club ( 44 Imperial Ave, Westport, CT).
Funds raised from this Clothing Tag Sale will help support the Food Closet for the Town of Westport, many charities throughout Fairfield County and need -based student scholarships.

Human Services Encourages Eligible Residents to Apply for Energy Assistance Program
Westport Department of Human ServicesHuman Services Director Elaine Daignault encourages income-eligible residents to apply for Connecticut’s federally-funded Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) through Westport’s Department of Human Services (DHS). Contactless applications for home heating assistance will become available starting October 1, 2021 and run through April 30, 2022.
“Qualifying residents are encouraged to complete the application process early in the season to ensure that they maximize the benefits of this essential program,” said Daignault.
Connecticut’s federally funded Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) helps low-income households pay their winter heating bills. Individuals and families qualify for CEAP based on their gross annual income and household size. For example, homes with a gross yearly income at or below 60% of the state median income ($39,027 for a family of one and $51,035 for a family of two) and liquid assets below $15K must provide all required documentation to determine eligibility. A full explanation of income guidelines, can be found on the State’s website.
Daignault added, “Westport is fortunate to have a local Warm-Up Fund, which is made possible by the community’s generosity. This fund provides another eligibility option based on area median income limits, thus offering an additional layer of support for families that are slightly over the state guidelines and may benefit from additional services through our department.”
Income-qualified households with previous CEAP applications on file will receive mailed application instructions in the coming weeks. New residents may contact Human Services for application information at (203) 341-1050 or email humansrv@westportct.gov.
After supplying the required documentation, eligibility is determined based on gross income, liquid assets, and last year’s tax return.

Westport Library Reopens Monday to Full Operating Hours
Westport Library Westport, CT – The Westport Library is pleased to announce that it will resume full operating hours effective Monday, September 13, 2021. The Library will be open Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 9:00pm, Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm, Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00pm.
In addition, the Library Café will be open Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm, Saturday from 9:00am to 4:30pm, and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:30pm.
The Café has partnered with Gruel Britannia from Southport in addition to our existing vendors Sono Baking Company and Cloudy Lane Bakery. We will serve salads, sandwiches, pastries, cookies, and quiche. Gluten free options are available and new items will be added in coming weeks.
