The ER Strait Marina was quiet this evening as the sun set over Longshore Club Park. Longshore Marina and Compo Marina’s gas docks and services both shut down at sunset until October 31st - after which date there is no gas dock or services available for the boats that remain at berth until the marina’s full closure on December 1st.
Westport COVID-19 Cases Up 9; State Positivity Rate 1.78%, Hospitalizations Continue to Fall
The Westport-Weston Health District reported 9 new COVID-19 cases for Westport since yesterday. The State’s daily test positivity rate was down to 1.78% while hospitalizations were down 9 in a continuing trend of COVID patients being released from Connecticut hospitals.
Westport total positive or probable cases: 2,065 cases.
Westport total COVID-19 Deaths: 32 deaths.
State Daily Test Positivity: 1.78% [down from 2.83%]
State Hospitalizations: 250 patients [-9]
$7.3 Million Beachside Avenue Bridge Replacement Done Right on Time
The Beachside Avenue Bridge over I-95 was opened for traffic late last week after being closed and fully replaced in the matter of months. The Connecticut Department of Transportation awarded the contract to Rotha Construction Company out of Avon, Connecticut - who completed the project right on time with its late September completion goal - and a 7.3 million dollar price tag. The new bridge was aligned with Greens Farms Road to give a better field of view for drivers turning onto Greens Farms Road from Beachside Avenue while assuring its structural integrity will be upheld for generations to come.
