Westport COVID-19 Cases up 2; State Positivity Rate, Hospitalizations Down Again

The Westport-Weston Health District reported 2 COVID-19 cases for Westport in the past day. The State’s daily test positivity rate was down to 1.67% while hospitalizations were down 2.

  • Westport total positive or probable cases: 2,130 cases.

  • Westport total COVID-19 Deaths: 32 deaths.

  • State Daily Test Positivity: 1.67% [down from 1.88%]

  • State Hospitalizations: 224 patients [-2]

Halloween Window Painting Contest allows Kids to Decorate Westport this Saturday

 Thursday October 21st. The Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the annual Halloween Window Painting Contest will take place on Saturday October 23rd from 9am – 4pm. 

This year has a record number of Children, 105, painting 65 different windows around town. All are vying to win in three different categories; Scariest, Most Original and Best Halloween Themed in three levels; Elementary, Middle School and High School for a total of nine winners. The victors will receive an award and a $25 gift card from Cold Fusion for gelato downtown. 

“What a turnout. A major increase from last year’s record,” said Matthew Mandell, Executive Director of the Chamber. “This event is so much fun, the kids and parents just love it and the store owners really came out to support it.” 

Windows of retailers, offices and even town owned at the Library and Senior center answered the call to ensure every child signed up had a window to paint on their own or in teams. 

Judging will be done by the Chamber’s Board of Directors and the winners will be announced early next week. The windows will be left painted through Halloween so residents can come and see the artistry.

To the Editor,

I have been a Westport resident for over 8 years and have had the privilege to personally know Jen Tooker and Andrea Moore since my family’s arrival.  I met Jen and Andrea separately, through volunteering in our kids’ schools, and I was drawn to each of them for their community awareness, intelligence, humor and most of all, kindness.  As I got to know each of them better over the next several years, I have greatly appreciated their deep dedication to Westport through volunteering, sitting on local non-profit boards and serving in locally elected offices. Jen and Andrea are great listeners and our concerns are theirs.  While the state has taken away funding from Westport and dis-incentivized business here, Jen and Andrea have fought for our town all while keeping taxes flat.  They have proven their ability to be fiscally responsible while still keeping the best interests of families, students, teachers, seniors, business owners and taxpayers in mind.  Jen and Andrea have been working for Westport for YEARS and it is a great place to live in no small part because of what they’ve already accomplished.


Each of these women separately make fantastic candidates but together they create perfect synergy to lead Westport into the future.  It’s time that we take a non-partisan look at the facts and their collective histories, and elect Jen and Andrea to take their leadership to the next level, to the benefit of all of Westport.
