81st Candlelight Concert Tickets Available on December 1st

The 81st Annual Candlelight Concert will be presented at Staples High School in the auditorium on Friday, December 17 at 8:00pm and Saturday, December 18 at 3:00pm and 8:00pm.

 

This annual gift to the Westport community showcases the talents of our nationally recognized musicians and performers. The Staples Choirs and Symphonic instrumental ensembles will join forces to perform traditional Candlelight favorites such as “Sing We Noel” and “Hallelujah Chorus.” In celebration of our musicians return to the stage, these combined ensembles will also perform Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy” and Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival.”

 

Tickets will be available to the public on Wednesday, Dec. 1, starting at 9am. You can get tickets online at www.staplesmusic.org (4 ticket maximum). In accordance with COVID safety protocols, audience seating is currently limited to 50% capacity (subject to change). Order promptly since tickets will be limited and go very fast. There is no charge for Candlelight tickets.

 

Covid Protocols (subject to change): Please arrive at least 45 minutes early at the SHS main entrance only. Upon entry all patrons are required to check in and show an ID and their vaccination card OR a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the performance. Patrons should sit with their parties and remain socially distanced from others. Concert goers must remain masked in all areas of SHS, including during the performances in the Auditorium.

State Promotes $10 Free Uber Code, Save Driving for the Holiday Season

As traffic fatalities continue to rise, the Connecticut Department of Transportation Office of Highway Safety is announcing a $10 discount code for Uber, to encourage people who consume alcohol or other impairing substances to use ride-hailing instead of putting themselves and others on the road at risk by getting behind the wheel.

The discount code, SAVETHENIGHTCT, will be available beginning November 23, 2021 through January 14, 2022 between the hours of 5 PM and 4 AM.

This program was made possible thanks to a grant from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), in partnership with Uber. Connecticut is one of only 5 states to receive this grant.

“Traffic fatalities are increasing at an unprecedented rate” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Joseph Giulietti. “It is a real crisis. If you, or someone you know, needs a sober ride – please, opt for a ride, and use this $10 Uber discount code to save the night – and potentially save a life.”

Ride-hailing services have been shown to reduce crash and impaired driving rates by offering an alternative to getting behind the wheel impaired. 

“We are pleading with Connecticut drivers to be more vigilant and more responsible than ever,” added Giulietti. “We need to do everything we can to stop this trend.”

To redeem the $10 Uber discount, riders will need to enter the code SAVETHENIGHTCT into the Uber app.
