Santana Tribute Band Borboletta Delivers To A Packed Levitt Pavilion
Sometimes called the ultimate Santana Tribute Band, Borboletta returned to the Levitt Pavilion Thursday night playing some of the greatest hits from Carlos Santana delivering a high-energy performance Santana himself would have likely enjoyed. This seven piece band featured brilliant guitar work and driving percussion which brought the crowd first to their feet and then to the "dance floor" at the stage where the band's energy and musicianship was captivating. Leading off with the smash hit "Evil Ways" and "No One To Depend On", they also played lesser known tracks before delighting the crowd which could be seen singing along to "Black Magic Woman" and "Oye Como Va", songs many remembered. They performed "Hope You're Feeling Better" as their encore to a very enthusiastic Levitt Pavilion audience.

Comprised of New England’s finest musicians , Borboletta is more than a musical tribute to the music of Carlos Santana. Keeping true to the afro-cuban, jazz, soul/blues/rock roots of the music, Borboletta also captures the electrifying energy of Santana’s live shows. Each show has been a unique performance- sometimes performing iconic sets like Woodstock ’69, or performing select albums in their entirety. From the moment you hear the first rhythms of drums and percussion to the final note, you will not be able to stop moving!
Borboletta is: Cyrus Madan - Keyboards/Vocals (Deep Banana Blackout), Tim Palmieri - Guitar/Vocals (Kung Fu/The Breakfast), Adrian Tramontano - Drums (Kung Fu/Marble Eyes), Chris DeAngelis - Bass/Vocals (Kung Fu/ The Breakfast), Yahuba Torres - Congas/Vocals (Turkuaz/ Ryan Montbleu), Tony Cintron - Timbales (Tito Puente/Willie Colón)

Lois Schine, 95, Died; Engineer, RTMer, Traveler, Westporter
Lois Gildersleeve Schine of Westport passed away at her home on July 7, 2022 surrounded by her family. Lois was born in 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Daniel W. Gildersleeve and Florence Grimm Gildersleeve. The Gildersleeve family came to Massachusetts from England in 1635 and eventually settled in Connecticut.
Lois was a pioneer in her day. She graduated second in her class with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1947 from Pratt Institute, where she was the only woman in the Mechanical Engineering program. She was elected to Tau Beta Pi (an Honorary Engineering Society) with a special designation as an "Honorary Member" because it was a male-only fraternity at the time. In the 1960's, Tau Beta Pi finally began inducting women and Lois was retroactively named a full member in recognition of her accomplishments. While at Pratt, she was a Founding Member of the Society of Women Engineers which is now a large international organization.
After college Lois worked for General Electric in Advanced Engineering and Research. GE was one of the few companies that would hire female engineers in the 1940's and 1950's. She also taught engineering courses at Bridgeport University.
Lois met Leonard Schine, an attorney, when he hired her as a consulting engineer. In 1951, they married and had five children in rapid succession. They made their home in Westport, CT and Lois remained there for the next 70 years. While raising the children, Lois continued her education and received a Masters Degree in Administrative Engineering from New York University.
When the children were of school age, Lois went back to work as an engineering consulting. Eventually she shifted careers and became Director of Volunteer Services at Bridgeport Hospital supervising 700 volunteers. She was President of the CT Association of Directors of Volunteer Services and President of the New England Association of Volunteer Directors.
In 1988 she moved on to become Executive Director of the Westport/Weston Chamber of Commerce, a post she held for sixteen years.
In addition to her professional career, Lois contributed much to community life in Westport and the surrounding area. Among her many civic activities, she was a Trustee of Sacred Heart University for 37 years, a Board Member of the Near and Far Aid Association, a member of the Westport Rotary Club, a Board Member of the Westport/Weston YMCA and she served on the Westport RTM for 20 years. She was particularly proud of her work helping to create Winslow Park and having the Planning & Zoning Committee designate it as its first "Open Space Zone".'
Lois was an intrepid traveler who visited far corners of the world. She was an avid skier and reluctantly gave up the sport at 85 years old. She also played tennis and pursued ice dancing. Her child raising philosophy can best be summed up as "survival of the fittest", as she took her five children skiing, white water rafting, helicopter skiing, sailing, and on safaris exposing them to a wide range of people, places and experiences.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Leslie Schine (Nils Nilsen), Daniel Schine (Patty Sullivan), Lindsay Schine (Michael Klingher), Lauren Schine and Edward Schine (Brigitta), and her ten grandchildren Caleb, Christian and Thomas Schine; Cody Nilsen; Ben, Nathan and Natalie Klingher; Tyler and Kyle Schine; Shannon May; and her beloved dog, Kirby. Lois was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Schine, her grandson, Jonathan Schine and her sister, Joyce Feigenbaum.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leonard and Lois Schine Scholarship Fund at Sacred Heart University or The Aspetuck Valley Land Trust.

Wanna Have Fun? Cyndi Lauper Coming to Levitt Pavilion September 30th
From the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts:
THE LEVITT PAVILION GALA IS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE LEAD SPONSORSHIP OF THE CLAUDIA AND ARTHUR COHEN FOUNDATION
Cyndi Lauper is a groundbreaking Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award-winning songwriter and performing artist with global record sales in excess of 50 million. Her iconic voice, influential punk glamour, and infectious live shows have catapulted her to stardom. Lauper won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist with her first album, She's So Unusual, and became the first woman in history to have four top-five singles from a debut album. Since then, Lauper has released ten additional studio albums, yielding timeless classics like “Time After Time” and “True Colors,” and the anthemic “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” She’s been nominated for 15 Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, seven American Video Awards, and 18 MTV Awards. In 2013, Cyndi Lauper became the first solo woman to win Best Original Score (music and lyrics) for Kinky Boots. She contributed a Tony-nominated song to the score of the Broadway musical SpongeBob SquarePants and is currently writing the score for the Broadway adaptation of the 1988 feature film Working Girl.
A pillar of female success, Lauper was inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015, released a New York Times best-selling memoir, and continues to collect impressive accolades across the music industry and beyond. In 2018, Lauper designed and launched a sold-out Home Decor Collection with Grandin Road and added a guest starring role on CBS’ hit TV show Magnum PI to her acting resume. In 2018, she received the “Icon Award” from Billboard at its 13th annual Women In Music event and brought down the house with a rousing tribute to Cher at Kennedy Center Honors.
In January of 2022, Cyndi Lauper‘s smash debut 1983 girl-power anthem, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” joined the YouTube one billion views club. And in May, Sony Music Entertainment officially went into production for a Cyndi Lauper documentary titled “Let The Canary Sing,” a feature-length film that promises to explore the singer’s 30-plus year career. The film, which is being made in partnership with Lauper herself, will be directed by award-winning documentarian Alison Ellwood, who most recently directed the Emmy-nominated two-part documentary, “Laurel Canyon.”
In addition, Lauper is tireless in her advocacy work. She has been an activist since day one, always fighting for the underdog - especially women, people living with HIV/AIDS, and LGBTQ people. Her commitment runs so deep that she started her own charity, the True Colors United in 2008 to bring an end to homelessness amongst LGBTQ youth, who make up to 40% of the youth homelessness population. Over the past 10 years, the True Colors United has had an indelible impact on ending youth homelessness in America. From playing a lead role in securing $167.5 million in new annual federal funding from Congress to invest in 46 communities across the country, which Cyndi powerfully testified in support of in the U.S. Senate, to training close to 2,000 homeless youth service providers for free over the past year to inclusively work with LGBTQ youth, Cyndi and the True Colors United are fundamentally changing how the country is working to prevent and end youth homelessness for the 4.2 million youth who experience it each year.
