Westport Firefighters “Share the Warmth” with Winter Coat Drive

Fire Chief Michael Kronick and Westport firefighters partner with Bridgeport Rescue Mission for the “Share the Warmth” coat drive.  

Fire Chief Kronick said, “Join us and help keep our neighbors in need warm this winter. This drive touches the lives of hundreds of men, women, and children from the area’s most distressed, local neighborhoods. While the temperatures fall, there are many families who will struggle to keep their families warm.” 

Public donations of new or gently used winter coats will be accepted in the receptacles at Fire Headquarters (515 Post Road East) and Town Hall (11 Myrtle Avenue) through December 9th.  

Westport firefighters will be sorting and transporting the items to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. We ask for your support and generosity to help make this coat drive a success.

Bridgeport Rescue Mission provides food, safe housing & addiction recovery services in Coastal Connecticut. They offer services and programs such as safe housing, where men and women are provided clothing and hot meals. County, Red and White Charity Balls Return after Pandemic Hiatus

The County Assemblies, Inc., the non-profit organization that sponsors both the County Assembly Charity Ball for high school juniors and the Red & White Charity Ball for high school seniors announces the return of our Charity Balls in 2023 after a two-year pandemic pause.  We shall be celebrating our 85th Anniversary during our events in 2023, and for the first time, we have cordially invited all students from the Class of 2024 to the County Assembly Charity Ball and all students from the Class of 2023 to the Red & White Charity Ball.  Students that attend Staples High School and those from the Class of 2024 and 2023 that reside in Westport, yet attend another high school are invited to attend our events. The price is $185 per couple as each student attends the Charity Balls with a guest/escort.

The dates for the 2023 Charity Balls for Westport residents are set for: County Assembly Charity Ball for high school juniors is set for Saturday, January 28, 2023 and Red & White Charity Ball for high school seniors is set for Friday, February 3, 2023.  Each event will be held at The Stamford Marriott Hotel, 243 Tresser Boulevard, in Stamford, CT. 

For almost 85 years, our organization has sponsored the Charity Balls and all net proceeds from our events are donated to charities in Fairfield County that serve children and teens.  Some of the charities that have benefited in the past from the events were Homes with Hope, the Family & Children’s Agency, Norwalk Youth Symphony, Rach’s Hope and many more.
