Wreckers Swimmers Take Home Gold and Personal Bests during Strong Class LL State Championship Showing

The Staples Boys Swim team, coached by Head Coach Todd Gordon, competed in the Class LL State Championships today, following trials on Sunday, at the Cornerstone Aquatic Center in West Hartford. Staples saw a number of personal bests today, including a gold medal finish and school record by Junior Riley Twiss in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 46.58. Twiss also medaled in the 200 Individual Medley, finishing fifth.

Also turning in impressive efforts were junior Josh Tanksley, placing seventh in the 200 Free; junior Andrew Berkowitz, with ninth-place finishes in the 100 and 200 Freestyle, swimming lifetime bests in both events; and junior Peter Meehan, who swam a lifetime best in the 100 Breaststroke with the fifth fastest time of the meet.

Joining Twiss, Berkowitz and Meehan in qualifying for the State Open meet was senior Jacob Lee on the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays.
