Artist's Reception At Amy Simon Fine Art

Pushing The Boundaries, the newest exhibit at the Amy Simon Gallery, 123 Post Rd. East opened last night with a reception for the artists, Donald Martiny and Amy Genser.

Martiny’s signature work is composed of dispersed pigment on aluminum. He creates immediately frozen brushstrokes that are made from his own movements. Once completed, they look like relief on the wall. He is represented by galleries in Europe, the US and Australia.

Genser, who has has five previous exhibits at Amy Simon, works with paper and paint to explore her obsession with texture, pattern, and color. She uses paper as pigment and constructs her pieces by layering, cutting, rolling, and combining paper, with the natural world providing much of her inspiration. She has received commissions from as far away as Spain, London and Poland, and right in our own backyard at the Delamar West Hartford and Yale New Haven.

The exhibit runs through December 31.
