Staples Girls Break 4 Records while Winning Against Trumbull Wednesday Night

Four school records fell tonight as Staples girls swimming cruised to a victory against Trumbull at home on senior night.  Once again the Staples girls dominated the freestyle relays breaking the 200 meter freestyle and 400 meter freestyle relay school records.  The team of senior captains Jessica Qi, Ella Alpert along with freshman sensations Annam and Ayaan Olasewere swam to a record time of 1:48.17 in the 200M free relay and another record breaking time of 4:02.10 in the 400M free relay.   

 

In the individual events freshman Annam Olasawere broke her own record in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 25.69 shattering her previous record of 26.15.  Olasewere also broke the school record in the 100 meter freestyle clocking a 57.30 while Qi finished second with a time of 58.41.  

 

Freshman Dani Schwartz got the win in the 400 meter freestyle with a time of 4:52.51 with junior Ali Chodash (5:09.78) taking second.  

 

Staples swept the 200 meter freestyle with senior captain Jessica Qi winning with a lifetime best of 2:08.99, freshman Dani Schwartz (2:19.37) placing second and junior Ali Chodash (2:28.34) taking third.  

 

Sophomore Libby Turner (1:09.92) and Senior Ella Alpert (1:11.62) took first and second in the 100 meter backstroke.   

 

Divers Kate Whitaker, Emme Thaw and Ava DeDomenico took the top three spots in diving. 

Staples finishes the regular season with a 6-3 record and will move on to the FCIACs, Class LL, and State Open Championships over the next few weeks.
