Connecticut Attorney General Joins Fight Against Racism

Connecticut’s Attorney General William Tong joined Westport today in the fight against racism and hate against the AAPI community, describing the actions throughout history that have targeted the Asian community - such as internment camps in the 1940s, and the murder of Vincent Chin, saying “you probably weren’t taught that story” to the crowd.

Chin was beaten to death with a baseball bat in Michigan, 1982, by two men who had assumed he was Japanese. Chin died four days after the assault, less than one week before his own wedding, at the age of 27. (NPR.org)
