Superintendent: “no immediate threat” to Schools; Heightened Police Presence will Continue

Westport Superintendent of Schools

I would like to make the Kings Highway and Saugatuck school communities aware of an issue impacting both schools this afternoon.  Earlier, a Kings Highway administrator observed a person walking on the Post Road exhibiting erratic behavior and making idle threats.  She immediately reported this to the Westport Police Department who quickly dispatched officers to the campus of each school. The WPD has determined that there is no immediate threat to either school, but as a precaution have assigned officers to remain at the schools for the rest of the day.  You may notice officers in the surrounding neighborhoods as well this afternoon.

I want to thank the Westport Police for their swift response.

Respectfully,
Thomas Scarice
Superintendent of Schools
