Memorial Day Parade, Town Tradition, Will Return this Year
The Board of Selectmen decided this morning that the community can celebrate Memorial Day this year, a Town tradition for generations of Westporters who have watched, or walked, in the parade.

Westport, CT – The Town of Westport is currently moving forward with plans for a Memorial Day parade. The event will be subject to COVID-19 conditions and restrictions in effect at that time.
William Vornkahl, President of the Westport Veterans Council today announced that the theme for the Memorial Day Parade float contest will be “Honoring Women Veterans.”
There will be certificates awarded in the following categories: Best Development of Theme, Best Youth Organization Float, Most Creative, Best Community Organization, Most Colorful, and the Best Overall Float.
On Memorial Day (Monday, May 31, 2021), the Parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. The route begins on Riverside Avenue, continues east on Post Road East, to Myrtle Avenue, to Main Street and ending at Parker Harding Plaza.
