Gas Powered Leaf Blower Conversation Returns Tuesday Night at 5:30 during Public Meeting

The Westport RTM Public Works Committee, Parks & Recreation, and Environment Committees will be meeting Tuesday night at Town Hall to discuss a proposed leaf blower ordinance. The conversation is continued from last year, when the ordinance struck a nerve with many who rely on the devices for work, while giving great comfort to others who experience the harsh sounds and wish to prevent anymore pollution. Westport Public Meeting Agenda

The RTM Public Works Committee, Parks & Recreation and Environment Committees will meet jointly on December 14, 2021 at 5:30 PM in the Town Hall Auditorium for a work session regarding the Gas Powered Leaf Blower Ordinance. This meeting will also be recorded and live streamed on the Town website.

The purpose of this meeting is to hear from the Landscaping Community, the Parks & Recreation Department, the Public Works Department and the Chief of Police regarding how the Leaf Blower Ordinance will affect them. 

The agenda will be as follows:

The committees will receive input (order to be determined by Committee Chairs) from and discuss the Leaf Blower Ordinance with: the Chief of Police, Head Groundskeeper at Birchwood Country Club, Connecticut Groundskeepers Association members (presentation), Director of Public Works, Director of Parks and Recreation.

This meeting is a Committee Work Session.  We will try to limit the work session to approximately 90 minutes.  There will be no vote regarding the ordinance at this meeting.  The public is welcome to attend this work session but will not participate in the meeting.  There will be additional committee meetings regarding the Ordinance where public input is encouraged.
