Mattress Recycling, Free Compost, Nature Trail Walks Offered at Earthplace Sanctuary May 8th with Sustainable Westport

FREE compost giveaway, food scrap recycling starter kit sales (free for income-eligible), recycling of hard-to-recycle items, Earthplace trail walks

WHAT:

  • Mattresses and box springs from Westport residents will be accepted for FREE and recycled through the Mattress Recycling Council’s Connecticut Bye Bye Mattress program. 



  • FREE compost giveaway for Westport residents, to thank the community for making the food scrap recycling program at the transfer station such a success. (Please bring your own suitable container, for up to 6 gallons of compost each, so we can spread it around!).


  • Food Scrap Starter kits, consisting of a countertop container, a roll of BPI Certified Compostable bags and a transportation bin available for sale to Westport residents ($25/Free for income-eligible).


  • Earthplace-guided trail walks, staff-led animal feeding, recycling drop-off site for  used magic markers, mascara wands, batteries, natural corks, Brita filters. Open to all. 


This is a 100% outdoor event. Please wear a mask covering your nose and mouth.
