Afternoon Car Accident, Car Fire Both Slow I-95 Traffic Northbound

A 2:30 PM car fire and a 4:00 PM car accident both slowed traffic heading northbound on I-95 in Westport this afternoon. The car fire was cleared a short time later, with the car accident scene still active just North of Exit 18, according to the DoT. Smoke from the car fire could be seen from several miles away before it was extinguished.

UPDATE

All accidents were cleared by 5:00 PM. Local streets again felt the brunt of the traffic, with Greens Farms Road experiencing traffic from Hills Point Road until Hales Road as cars attempted to avoid the interstate altogether.
