Stamford Symphony Announces Virtual Gala Live Streamed from Westport Library

Stamford Symphony is pleased to announce this year’s annual gala, “Celebrating All Our Voices,” will take place virtually on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 7:30 pm. Streamed live from the Westport Library, this will be the first gala to be taking place outside of Stamford indicative of the Symphony’s mission to serve its many audiences all over Fairfield County.

“This virtual gala will be a night to remember,” said Michael Stern, Music Director of Stamford Symphony. “Our online presentation will include the remarkable Darien pianist, Chelsea Guo and the acclaimed violinists Adele Anthony and Gil Shaham. We shall also hear from the many young people we are working with through our education programs.”

In addition to sensational performances of Bach, Mozart, and Johann Strauss, a new initiativePlay, Sing, Listen! The Education Fund of Stamford Symphony will be unveiled. The goal of the fund is to enable members of the Orchestra to support accessible and programmatic music education in the public school systems and after school youth music organizations, from Greenwich to Bridgeport. Stamford Symphony is delighted to partner with Project Music, INTEMPO, Young Artists Philharmonic, Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras, New Canaan Public Library, Westport Library, and more. All funds raised at the Gala will go towards providing programs free of charge, allowing the Symphony to bring dynamic new engagement and educational possibilities to the community.

“The gala places the spotlight on our burgeoning education programs,” said Russell Jones, President and CEO of the Stamford Symphony. “Play, Sing, Listen! will provide new opportunities to engage with many more young people and demonstrate our commitment to Fairfield County’s orchestra.”

One of the highlights of the evening will be a performance by Chelsea Guo, who lives in Darien, CT and studies at the Juilliard Scholl of Music.  At 20 years old, Guo is an award-winning pianist who recently debuted her album, “Chelsea Guo: Chopin in My Voice.” BBC Music Magazine gave the album five stars and wrote, “Here is a rare talent.”
