Staples Ice Hockey Falls To JBWA

The Wreckers faced one of the top two teams in the state on Wednesday in Danbury and fought hard but in the end they were defeated by the score of 5-3. JBWA is a team comprised of players from Joel Barlow high school in Redding, Weston high school and Abbot Tech in Danbury.

Senior forward Jason Wolgast scored two of Staples three goals with one in the first period and his second in the third period. Sophomore forward Tyler DiMaio added goal number three in the third period however it was not enough. Junior Goalie Aaron Kail had his hands full with 25 saves.

Said Head Coach Matt Bohn "The coaching staff is proud of how we battled back. JBWA isn't one of the top two teams in the state on accident. They're well coached and just a tough group to play against. Our guys stuck with them, though. It's great to experience that kind of atmosphere as we head into the state tournament. We love this team and can't wait to start preparing for whoever we match up against in the first round."
