Starling Murmuration

We all have noticed gigantic flocks of birds in the fall coving the sky. These are European Starlings, considered to be an invasive species by U.S. Fish & Wildlife. The flocks are known as a murmuration. This one was observed flying over Staples High School on Tuesday and likely numbered between two and three thousand which is not very large in fact. Starling murmurations can number in the tens of thousands!
