Town Engineer Warns of Traffic Detours Next Week surrounding Cavalry Road Bridge Replacement Project

Town of Westport:

Town Engineer Keith Wilberg announced today that installation of bridge beams at the Cavalry Road Bridge Replacement Project, located on Cavalry Road between Crooked Mile Road and Rebel Road, will take place from 8 am to 4 pm each day starting Wednesday March 2, through Friday, March 4. All dates and times are approximate and subject to weather conditions.

The Contractor will be using local roads to access the site to deliver the oversized crane and bridge beams via tractor trailer, resulting in additional traffic detours and possible delays near the project.

The detour area includes Cavalry Road, Crooked Mile Road, Red Coat Road, Hermit Lane, and all roads and driveways that use these roadways. Residents of that area have been notified of the detour.

The Westport Police will be on site, and detour signs will be installed throughout the detour route. Motorists are advised to drive with additional caution, allow extra travel time, and obey all detour and safety signals.

Upon completion of the beams installation, the current detour pattern around the site will be put back into effect.

Please direct any questions about the project and detour to Town Engineer Keith Wilberg at 203-341-1128.
