LA club recognizes scholarship winners

The Lewiston-Auburn Optimist Club has announced this year’s winners of its local essay contest. “Reaching your Dreams by Choosing Optimism” was the essay’s national topic.

Max Kim of Westport, Connecticut, was this year’s club contest winner. Jesse Ding of Wilmington, Massachusetts, placed second. Isabella Webster, a student at St. Dominic Academy in Auburn, placed third.

Kim qualified for the district contest, where he won the $2,500 scholarship for first place.

This contest was open to any participant meeting the requirements. If no local optimist club was sponsoring the essay, participants could enter in another cub’s contest.
