Westport's Kimberly Wilson Lends Her Voice To Martin Luther King Celebration In Ridgefield

Kimberly Wilson Performs “We Shall Overcome”

Kimberly Wilson who has called Westport home for 15 years has her fingers in many different pies. A professional actress and playwright, she is known for her musical one woman show, "A Journey". She is a member of the Westport Arts Advisory Committee and the Westport Downtown Plan Implementation Committee.

Unfortunately, the celebration usually held at the Westport Playhouse was cancelled, so on Monday she celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Day at the Ridgefield Playhouse by reading "The Hill We Climb" by Amanda Gorman, the young poet who read her poem at President Biden's inauguration and sang the civil rights anthem, "We Shall Overcome" She was joined by both Christian and Jewish clergy speaking about the work of Dr. King. The finale was the Ridgefield Choral who gave a stunning performance of "You Will Be Found" co-written by Westport's own Justin Paul.
