Wheels2U Commuter Shuttle Service Free for Two Weeks as Gift to Westporters
Wheels2U, Westport Transit District
As a holiday gift to the Town and its residents, the Westport Transit District will provide free rides to users of its Wheels2U shuttle service for the two weeks starting December 20, 2021.
Wheels2U Westport is the Westport Transit District’s on-demand, group ride, door-to -train platform shuttle service.
“We are pleased to be able to offer this gift to Westport residents and those who commute to work in Westport to thank them for their support of the Westport Transit District and Wheels2U,” said Peter Gold, Director of the Westport Transit District. “We hope to make the holidays a bit brighter for all. Just take our convenient Wheels2U service between your door and the Saugatuck or Greens Farms train stations:
if you’re going in to New York City or arriving in Westport for work,
if you’re going to New York City to see the tree at Rockefeller Center, to a museum or a Broadway matinee, or
If you’re going to New York City to visit friends and family for the holidays.
In fact, if you’re taking the train to or from Westport for any reason, take Wheels2U to or from the train station.”
“Wheels2U is convenient and easy to use. It goes right to the train platform, eliminating long walks to your car in the cold and dark. If it snows, there’s no need to scrape ice and snow off your windshield when you return. Once you try it we’re sure you’ll like the service and want to use it again” said Gold.
Residents living in Wheels2UWestport’s service area can use the Wheels2U Westport app to request a pickup between 5:45 AM and 9:45 AM and between 4 PM and 8 PM and be taken to or from the Saugatuck or Greens Farms train platform and their front door. Pickups should be requested about 20 minutes before you would normally leave to drive to the station. The fare, which is normally is $2.00 when paid with the Wheels2U app, will be waived from December 20 through December31. There is no service on December 25, Christmas Day.
