Westport Lights Up Blue to Celebrate the Community while Supporting Children’s Charity

Last night Westport was lit up blue by small luminaries placed in front of local homes and businesses in the community. The social media-driven effort was started by “Westport Moms” founders Megan Rutstein and Melissa Post, in collaboration with Ali Dorfman of Purpose 2 Purchase, in order to show appreciation for Westport.

Participants were able to purchase a luminary, or several, for $10 each. Volunteers prepared the luminaries for last night’s celebration of Westport, while all funds collected went to (filling in the blanks), a non-profit organization that provides meals to children over weekends, when not supported by school food services.

8:30 PM Traffic Becoming a Norm for Northbound I-95 Travellers due to Beachside Avenue Construction

Traffic was brought to a screeching halt tonight just after 8:30 PM, which is when State Police purposely slow the traffic in order to protect the single-lane highway transition just past exit 18. The traffic is no longer a new experience, as most weeknights this is the case for drivers making their way northbound after the 8 o’clock hour. Traffic downtown and on Route 1 quickly picked up at the usually quiet period of time in an attempt to bypass the construction.
