Gallery: The East Coast Open at Greenwich Polo
Greenwich Polo Club hosted the 2nd match in the East Coast Open on Sunday with Ellipse Polo defeating Gardenvale Polo Team and advancing to the Finals this Sunday, September 12. Hilario Ulloa, one of the top ranked players in professional polo was match MVP.
The Greenwich Polo Club is recognized as one of the elite high-goal polo venues in the Northeast, and is internationally recognized for its rosters of championship winning teams and players.

Westporter Drew Angus to Sing National Anthem at Mets v. Giants Game this Afternoon
Musician Drew Angus will be at Oracle Park this afternoon to sing the National Anthem ahead of the MLB game between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets. Angus, a Staples High School class of 2007 graduate, has traveled the country for his music - appearing on shows like Saturday Night Life and becoming a finalist on American Idol. The San Fransisco home game begins at 3:45 today.

Over 80 Kids from 9 Clubs Race in Opti Sailing Regatta off of Westport
With vessel names like “Pegasus”, “Usain Boat”, and “Trash Panda” - over 80 kids from around Fairfield County joined the Optimist Area C Open Regatta this afternoon, hosted by Cedar Point Yacht Club off of Compo Beach. Photos by WestportLocal.com
Area clubs included Cedar Point Yacht Club, Norwalk Yacht Club, Noroton Yacht Club, Pequot Yacht Club, Shore & Country Club, Black Rock Club, Roton Point Sailing Association, Stamford Yacht Club, and Milford Yacht Club. Full results of the regatta can be found here.
Optimist sailing boats are of the smallest type of sailing vessels, easily spotted for their size and flat bow - resembling “bath tubs.” Used by some of the youngest of sailors, the small boats are used by Westport and other area clubs to help educate and train kids ages 8-14 years old. Raced locally and internationally, the opti boats are a popular site from Westport’s shorelines each summer.

Westport 10U Little Leaguers: State Champions
Westport Little League’s 10U players are the State’s new champions tonight after they won 11-0 against East Lyme at Scalzi Park in Stamford. The game was ended after barely four innings with a catch by Chase Landgraf, which mercied the opponents - ending the game early and claiming victory based on the amount of runs put in by the Westporters. The game was live streamed by Westporters Donald Lowman and his son Dustin via Birds Eye Sports, and can be watched below.
Westport Little Leaguers Still Smiling; Winning Friday, Saturday Matches of State Finals
The Westport Little League 10U team continues to win this season, with a 10-7 win over Shelton on Friday and 14-1 win over East Lyme last night. Hazy Night for Softball Under the Lights
As the Men’s Monday Night Softball League continues on, haze could be seen as air quality remains low. Smoke plumes continue to be reported by the Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program from the wildland fires in the Western United States.
In the outfield are the “Empty Pitchers” with “Viva Zapata” at bat. Viva's, sponsored by the historic Saugatuck institution, is currently ranked #2 in the league behind the “Bulldogs”. The score for the late evening game was 5-6 (Viva Zapata) by the bottom of the fourth inning.

Westport Little Leaguers Heading to State Finals
Westport Little Leaguers won 10-0 at the Sectional Final today in Trumbull, sending the Westport U10 team to the States. The boys continue to represent Westporters as the team continues to conquer with excitement and good sportsmanship, with this being their fourth straight playoff win-by-run rule this summer. They will play Shelton this Thursday evening at Scalzi Park in Stamford.
