No New COVID-19 Cases, No Deaths; State Positivity Rate 3.13%, Hospitalizations Up 2
The Westport-Weston Health District reports that Westport’s COVID-19 cases remained the same today, with no deaths reported. The State’s daily test positivity rate was down to 3.13%, and State hospitalizations were up 2.
Westport total positive or probable cases: 1,914 cases.
Westport total COVID-19 Deaths: 31 deaths.
State Daily Test Positivity: 3.13% [down from 3.37%]
State Hospitalizations: 346 patients [+2]
Westport Fire Department Plans for Flooding, High Winds, Power Outages
The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Westport for Tropical Storm Henri. Tropical Storm Henri is forecasted to become a hurricane off the Mid-Atlantic Coast and may make landfall east of New Haven Sunday afternoon with lingering effects into Monday. A Tropical Storm Warning means tropical-storm-force winds are expected somewhere within this area within the next 36 hours.
The Westport Emergency Management team will update residents as more information on the projected impact is realized. Currently, we anticipate heavy rainfall, flooding, high winds, coastal flooding, and power outages.

Westport PBA Postpones Car Cruise to October 2nd
Update (8/20/2021) The Car Cruise scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, August 21, 2021, has been cancelled due to weather related concerns. The new scheduled date will be Saturday, October 2nd from 10am-2pm.
(Westport, CT) The Westport Police Benevolent Association (PBA) is hosting their third annual Car Cruise this coming Saturday (August 14, 2021) from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm in Lot #1 at the Saugatuck Train Station. Cars of all years, makes, and models are welcome. The fee to enter and display a car is $20.00. The first one hundred cars to arrive will receive a gift bag.
This family event will feature music, as well as food provided by JR’s Food Truck and Micallizi’s Italian Ice.
The Westport PBA is a charitable organization which donates money to many worthwhile causes such as the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Special Olympics, and Veterans and Families of Fallen Officers.
Trophies will be awarded and of course lots of raffle prizes to win! Please come out this Saturday to support the Westport PBA.
