Hundreds Gather for Pro Choice Rally on Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge (Gallery)
Hundreds of community members met on the downtown bridge to rally in support of the woman’s right to choose in light of threats to overturn the 1973 Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision. Organized by local activists and their families and friends, the event took place until 1:00 this afternoon with thousands of cars passing through the two sidewalks packed with ralliers - with many drivers honking and waving fists and thumbs in support of the now-national movement. Multiple Ambulances Transport Victims from Serious Westport I-95 Accident
Westport Fire Department: Westport firefighters were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident on I 95 SB between exits 17 and 16. The initial dispatch was for Engine 4, Engine 2, Rescue 3, and the Shift Commander. Westport fire dispatch advised responding units that Norwalk FD was operating at structure fire and Westport would be handling the I 95 response. Westport Engine 5 was added to the incident for assistance.
Engine 4 arrived and reported a multi vehicle crash with heavy damage to both vehicles, numerous patients and requested additional ambulances to the scene. Arriving companies secured the vehicles in place and began patient care to the injured. Westport EMS, New Canaan EMS and Darien EMS assisted on scene transporting five patients to the hospital.
The crash was caused by a vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes of 95, striking the center barrier, and landing in the southbound lanes where it was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. Two lanes of highway were shut down during the incident. The last FD unit cleared at 6:38 AM. CSP was on scene to investigate.

Westport COVID-19 Cases Up 28; State Hospitalizations Up 32 Patients as Positivity Rate is 13.71%
The State Department of Public Health reported 28 more cases in Westport over the past day. The State’s daily test positivity rate was up to 13.71% while hospitalizations were up 32 patients, with 323 patients currently hospitalized for COVID-19 throughout the State.
