Westport’s Finest, Local Community Members Honored during Awards Ceremony

On November 4th, 2022, the Westport Police Department held their third annual officer awards ceremony, recognizing outstanding work done by officers in the year 2021.
Among the recognized were civilian and Westport’s Unsung Hero, Tucker Peters, for saving his friend from drowning after their boat tipped over this past summer and Jose Rodriguez who helped a woman climb to safety after falling onto the train tracks during peak train hours.
Also recognized were Assistant Westport Fire Chief Matthew Cohen and Fire Fighter Michael Durette who assisted officers in locating a dangerous felon.
Officers were recognized for their competence and success in a variety of incidents to include armed suspects, barricaded subjects, the mentally ill, and time consuming, in-depth investigations. Detective Ashley Delvecchio and Detective Marc Heinmiller were co-recipients of the 2021 Officer of the Year Award for their consistent and innate ability to solve investigative cases. In all, forty officers received awards, many of whom received multiple awards.
Chief Koskinas thanked the award recipients for their dedication and commitment to Westport. “I congratulate and remind all Westport Officers that their hard work does not go unnoticed”, said Koskinas.
Local Officials Join CEO Sheldon Kahan For Ribbon Cutting At Interstate Design Center Grand Opening

Westport First Selectwoman Jen Tooker joined Interstate + Lakeland CEO Sheldon Kahan, local officials and Interstate staff to cut the ribbon officially opening the company's new state-of-the-art building products design center at 800 Post Rd. East.The new 11,000 square foot showroom offers the finest in windows, doors, custom mill work, hardware and accessories geared toward the luxury home building and remodeling. Kahan and his staff including senior Marketing Director and 4th generation of the Kahan family to work at Interstate, Ben Kahan, Frank Bowron, manager of the window and door division, VP of Sales Brian Kurtz and service manager Jason Kirsch proudly gave the grand tour of the center which was designed to give visitors the feel of an art gallery. They received many compliments on the tour from local officials including 2nd Selectwoman Andrea Moore, Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce Director Matt Mandell and Jonathan Steinberg state representative for Westport.
Visitors also were treated to the gourmet delicious offerings of the area's well known and loved food truck the MeltMobile.
The Kahan family invites the people of Westport to see all of the beautiful products they offer, including their new custom millwork line, the Westport Collection which includes their Saugatuck, Blue Water and Beachside series, and visit their photo gallery which shows their products installed in fine homes in Westport and the surrounding area.
