Golden Jubilee For Greenwich St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Greenwich has been holding one of the great St. Patrick’s Parades in CT, one of about a dozen each year. In 2026 the Greenwich Hibernians celebrated their 50th event year of bringing a little bit of the Emerald Isle to Greenwich Avenue, delighting the crowds which lined The Avenue beginning a couple of hours before the 2:00 PM start time.
There was a sea of green as far as the eye could see and even Greenwich’s canine population were all decked out for the day.
The lines at Starbucks may get even longer if the town’s dogs start the habit.
Above left, Billie Frenz of the very popular band Bille & The Showmen cruises down the Avenue in his 2016 Cobra, custom built by Backdraft Racing of South Africa with a Ford 351 CID Windsor and 5 speed transmission along with the procession of fine vintage automobiles. Four term Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo acknowledges friends in the crowd as he strolls with his German Shepherd.

Greenwich High School Varsity Softball Captains Hayden Zinker, Sydney Coyne, Hannah Winig, Jesse Natale were showing off a gorgeous 4 month old Bernese Mountain dog named Tug, who was a magnet for everyone who spotted him.
Above, one generous little girl grabbed candy being thrown for the children and immediately shared it with all her friends!

This may look like I-95 almost any time of the day or night, this is actually crowd favorites, the Pyramid Shriners Motor Patrol weaving their way down the parade route.

Students of the demonstration team of the dojo White Tiger Tae Kwan Do enthusiastically showed their training skills all along the parade route.

Greenwich Girls Varsity Rugby team marches proudly. Led by Head Coach Erin Martschenko, GGVR won a state title in 2022.
