One Charged for DWI Following Sylvan Road Rollover
Westport Police Department Release
On August 5, 2021, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Westport Police officers responded to the area of Sylvan Road South at Sylvan Lane on a report of a single car motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers located a Jeep resting on its side. The driver, who was identified as Anthony Cochrane, stated he was not injured. While speaking with Mr. Cochrane, the officer noted that he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Mr. Cochrane’s breath. Due to this indicator of possible intoxication, a standardized field sobriety test was conducted. Mr. Cochrane was reportedly unable to perform the test to standard and he was placed under arrest.
Once at the police department, Mr. Cochrane purportedly refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. He was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Drugs/Alcohol and Failure to Drive in the Proper Lane. Mr. Cochrane was released after posting a $400.00 bond and he is scheduled to be arraigned at Stamford Superior Court on Monday, August 16, 2021.
