Westport Public Schools Announce Title 1 Preschool Screening Slots
Westport Public Schools: Westport Public Schools will be conducting a screening to identify preschool children who are “at risk” for learning under the Federal and Local Title I eligibility criteria. Children who have had limited opportunities for exposure to a structured preschool curriculum to prepare them for elementary school are considered “at risk”. “At risk” also includes the following: a child who has limited English proficiency, a family that is financially unable to access a structured preschool, as well as a child who is “at risk” for developmental delays. If a child qualifies for a Title I slot, the child may be eligible to participate in the Stepping Stones Preschool for the upcoming school year, at no cost.
The screening is conducted by Stepping Stone Preschool staff members. The team will look at a child’s concepts, language, motor, self help and social emotional skills.
The Title I Screening will be held on June 3, 2022, at Stepping Stones Preschool, located at Coleytown Elementary School, 65 Easton Road, Westport. To participate in this Title I Screening, you must be a resident of Westport and your child must be at least 3 years of age by June 1, 2022, and can not be eligible for the 2022-2023 Kindergarten school year (cannot turn five before January 1, 2023).
Screenings are by appointment only; slots are limited. Please contact Diane Marcinowski at 203-341-1712 to make an appointment. If you have questions about Title I or would like to learn more about Stepping Stones Preschool, please contact Michele Pollock at 203-341-1765.

The production crew from See Factor, Woodside NY arrived yesterday to construct the giant screen which will begin showing a series of family films, classics and new films again this year at the Imperial Avenue parking lot next to the Westport Women's Club.
According to Senior Director Alban Sardzinski of See Factor it takes a crew of 10 people to build the massive structure 43’ up in the air to support the 50’x20’ cinema screen. This is as big and in many cases larger than most indoor multiplex screens in our area.
The projection system includes a a state of the art cinema projector giving the highest quality crisp image identical to what is used in first run theaters that show blockbusters in chains like AMC, Regal and Bowtie theater chains.
Technical production and projection is managed by Digital Media Systems.
The first film, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, will be shown tonight at 7:30 PM with "doors opening" at 6:30 for tailgating.
This film is being co-sponsored by the Westport Public Library. The Princess Diaries 2 is being shown in support of BOOKED for the Evening, where Shonda Rhimes is being honored. It also coincidentally stars another Westporter Anne Hathaway.
